Since third grade. I have loved writing since I could write a sentence. I took every writing course in high school. I attended Michigan State University where I changed my major four times (nursing, English, linguistics, English). I graduated with a major in English literature and one course short of a major in Linguistics.
Fiction, journal, letters to the editor :)
Sort of. (See letters to the editor). Seriously, a few magazine articles over 20 years ago. I have spoken to groups of day care providers and college classes on the subject of raising children with special needs. This required some writing and outlining of topics. One of my stories will be published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: raising Kids on the Spectrum. It will be published April 2, 2013.
Breathe 2012. Hope to attend more conferences in the future. I recommend attending.
Perhaps a family memoir, perhaps some fiction or poetry or all of them. Improvement in writing. Just to get back into it. I would like to write a family memoir. A testimony of God's goodness and faithfulness to us. 20 years ago, all three of our kids were diagnosed with special needs. Four years later, the diagnosis was autism to varying degrees. 20 years later, two of my children have bachelors degrees and are transitioning to the world of employment. My youngest daughter is in her third year of college. I have a bunch of journals from the early years.
I am at a crossroad in my life. I have spent the last 25 years raising children. 10 years ago, I went back to school to become a legal secretary. Perhaps taking up writing will be the next major turning point in my life.
Great fellowship and encouragement happens.
