Worker-owned enterprises are an alternative to both private ownership of the means of production (capitalism) and state ownership of the means of production (socialism). Libertarian socialists are just as skeptical of state-run enterprises as they are of privately-owned enterprises. Worker-employee ownership avoids the problems of both but it has practical challenges of its own.
This meetup is for everyone that wants to know more about this alternative as well as those who have started or want to start a worker-owned enterprise. As labor unions wane, so too do workers wages. As high unemployment becomes the new normal and employers seem to benefit from worker's feelings of insecurity, this is the time to take our economic lives into our own hands and build the new society in the shell of the old.
Join us just to talk, to strategize, or to act to realize the benefits of employee ownership.
