This is an electronics class for the absolute beginner - we will cover many basic concepts such as:
Current
Voltage
Resistance
Ohm’s Law
Power
Measurement tools
Breadboards - How to use them to prototype circuits
Circuit diagrams and circuit elements

If you've never heard of these concepts, or have heard of them but don't understand them, then this class is for you!

What you should bring: If you have a small breadboard and a laptop computer, you should bring them. If you don't have a breadboard or laptop, we will have some for you to use at the class.

If you'd like an online helper for deciphering resistor codes, this site is nice: http://www.hobby-hour.com/electronics/resistor_color_code.php

If you have an iPhone, iPod, iPad there are some decent free apps for resistor codes, as well as basic electrical engineering formulas.

There were several children, with their parents, and as long as you can give them some basic guidance, they'll be sure to get a lot out of it.

I'm thinking about coming with my 11-year-old. She enjoys the science, but I'm wondering how much math there will be. Do you get kids coming to these things?

Andy, sorry I missed your message 2 days ago. We do have kids come to these classes. The Electronics 101 does have some math, but not a lot. The Electronics 102 class will have more math, but it will also have more hands-on circuit building. We'd love to have you bring your daughter to our events.

Definitely a basic entry level class, but provides a good start to the fundamental concepts.
