The local five-member group Les Gwan Jupons plays what the band describes as "vintage party music" from the French, Spanish and English-speaking Caribbean. You can hear their music at the URL below - fun, upbeat, fast, with a lot of jazzy beats.
They'll be playing a FREE show from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 28, at the de Young Museum's Koret Auditorium in SF's Golden Gate Park.
Let's meet beforehand for a noon brunch at Pasion, a nuevo Latino restaurant in the Sunset, co-owned by one of the Fresca folks (similar menu). It's a short walk from the restaurant to the museum.
**IMPORTANT NOTE: I have reserved a table for SIX people at the restaurant, so that's the current limit for brunch. However, more people are welcome to make their own reservations, or meet us at the museum auditorium by 2:00 p.m. (The museum also has some terrific exhibits at the moment, which you might want to check out after the show. You need to pay a regular admission fee to see the exhibits.)**
**Meet between 11:45 a.m. and noon outside Pasion restaurant, so we can make our noon reservation and finish up in time for the 2:00 p.m. show in Golden Gate Park. (We'll also look for several non-brunch folks outside the Koret's doors shortly before the concert starts.)**
HOW TO FIND EACH OTHER: To help you find me at the restaurant, here's what I look like: 5 feet tall, WF, Boomer generation, with short auburn hair. I'll wear a black top and gray pants and carry a white canvas book bag with the words GREEN APPLE written in green.
If trying to contact me on Saturday before the event, feel free to email me at: [masked]
