Latin Vibe: Brunch & 'Vintage Party Music'

The local five-member group Les Gwan Jupons plays what the band describes as "vintage party music" from the French, Spanish and English-speaking Caribbean. You can hear their music at the URL below - fun, upbeat, fast, with a lot of jazzy beats.

They'll be playing a FREE show from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 28, at the de Young Museum's Koret Auditorium in SF's Golden Gate Park.

Let's meet beforehand for a noon brunch at Pasion, a nuevo Latino restaurant in the Sunset, co-owned by one of the Fresca folks (similar menu). It's a short walk from the restaurant to the museum.

**IMPORTANT NOTE: I have reserved a table for SIX people at the restaurant, so that's the current limit for brunch. However, more people are welcome to make their own reservations, or meet us at the museum auditorium by 2:00 p.m. (The museum also has some terrific exhibits at the moment, which you might want to check out after the show. You need to pay a regular admission fee to see the exhibits.)**

**Meet between 11:45 a.m. and noon outside Pasion restaurant, so we can make our noon reservation and finish up in time for the 2:00 p.m. show in Golden Gate Park. (We'll also look for several non-brunch folks outside the Koret's doors shortly before the concert starts.)**

HOW TO FIND EACH OTHER: To help you find me at the restaurant, here's what I look like: 5 feet tall, WF, Boomer generation, with short auburn hair. I'll wear a black top and gray pants and carry a white canvas book bag with the words GREEN APPLE written in green.

If trying to contact me on Saturday before the event, feel free to email me at: [masked]

Excellent performance by Les Gwans Jupons! Definitely worth checking out. Also, the Jazz+ Sunday afternoon series at the deYoung is a real find - free concerts of almost 2 hrs of music! Had some no-shows (or "no-finds"?) for brunch, but still a fun table and a fun afternoon --

Okey dokey- thanks for letting me know :) ... The brunch contingent will look for the museum-only folks outside the main door to the Koret Auditorium (not the museum door, but,r ather, the public-access door) at about 1:50 p.m. See info above on what I look like. We can also exchange cell phone numbers by email to make things easier. See you then! :)

Hi, all - I'll aim to finalize restaurant reservations Friday night, so if you're NOT planning to do brunch, please let me know by late Friday and I'll make any changes needed to our table's headcount for Sunday. If I don't hear otherwise from folks, I'll assume that everyone is coming to brunch. Thanks! :)

OK, thanks for confirming:) ... How about meeting next to the public entrance to the Koret Auditorium by about 1:50pm? I put a description of myself in the Event Posting since I don't have a photo posted. ... We could also exchange cell phone numbers by email to help locate each other. Here's a link to a map showing the layout of the museum grounds and the Koret, if that's helpful >>> http://deyoung.famsf....

If anyone needs it, here's a map of the de Young Museum property, showing the location of the Koret Auditorium (scroll down for that) :

Hi, the Edit button doesn't display for me at top left. I'm guessing I'm not permissioned in for that. (By contrast, when I go to the jazzfans meetup grp, I'm able to fully edit an event posting and set rsvps, emails, etc., so I'm concluding I have a different level of permissions there) ... I'll email you, thanks!

Hi, all -- It looks as though I don't have full access to all the World Music group event settings. I posted the event with no problems but am so far unable to limit RSVPs or to email RSVPers directly. (If any other organizers see this message and can help with that, I'd appreciate it.) ... I'm assuming that everyone who's RSVPd so far wants to attend the brunch as well as the concert, but if anyone plans to SKIP the brunch, pls let me know for the sake of my restaurant reservation headcount. I currently have a table for SIX people reserved but am going to see if I can bump it up to eight people.

P.S. Hi, Danyell - I just saw your "see you at the museum" comment in your RSVP, thanks :) ... If you'd like me to try to add you to the restaurant reservations, pls Reply here. Thanks!
