The Chicago Wrestling Club Message Board › Changes coming to the Chicago Wrestling Club
Starting September 1, 2012 there will be a number of changes at the Chicago Wrestling Club. First, we will be getting a club charter from USA Wrestling. Along with that we will begin enforcing the requirement that all wrestlers have USA Wrestling competitor cards.
The main impetus for this is heightened liability concerns – Quads is now requiring us to have liability insurance and the best and cheapest way to do so is through USA Wrestling.
Competitor cards currently cost $40 per year and hopefully will cost the same next year. The cards are valid from Sept 1 until Aug 31 of the following year. This is a small price to pay for all the benefits, which include
- Secondary accident insurance for wrestling-related injuries
- Ability for the club to have liability insurance
- Cards are required for most wrestling tournaments these days
- A card is required if you want to train at Oak Park in the spring
- Includes a subscription to USA Wrestler magazine
Although you can get your card online, the cost is higher. Starting in late August we will be bringing a supply of application forms to each practice. You will be able to fill out the form and provide payment by cash or check and we will mail the applications in to IKWF. If you do pay by check DO NOT make it out to USA Wrestling or the Chicago Wrestling Club. Checks should be made out to IKWF or to Peter Haag.
