Hello writers, I'm Russell

Write Wellington was due to expire at the end of Aug 2013. It seemed a waste to let such a resource and Kathryn's work go to waste so I stepped in as the next organiser. I feel a little like a regenerated Dr. Who and perhaps this group may need fresh organisational blood to remain current in the future. For now, I will endeavour to promote the setup of writer discussion and critique groups. I’m open to others ideas so feel free to contact me.

My credentials? I am a self-taught writer with three recent self-published novels to my credit. I hope to bring my self-publishing experiences to the wider group, from book concept, cover design, formatting and eventual printing. Every writer deserves to hold a copy of their creation in their hands. I also have some expertise in setting up Wordpress blogs and websites.

In 2011 I was lucky enough to encounter a small critique group in Grants Pass, Oregon while completing my first novel. Rogue Authors Guild (RAG) met twice a week, each of the several memebrs bringing something to share whenever possible. This critique group was tough, at times almost crushing, but I lerarned so much so quickly, once I got past being too defensive and began to trust the input from my fellow writers. I was the last to join RAG and the first to publish, with another five books now in print from this small motivational group. Several more are in work or due soon. As tough as it was I liked this group and the high spped, high pressure approach they bought to my writing.
