I just learned of Mike's passing. Very sad news, and I'm in shock. I've known Mike for many years, and served with him on the Board of Directors for Keep Seminole Beautiful. He was a good friend, and did a lot of wonderful things for the community.

Damn. All the good ones are taken way too early.

I talked to Rik via email and he said in honor of Mike the group should go on. He said we will decided how to proceed at the next meeting.

I am shocked, i still remember how he cam towards me held my hand and said " your story is compelling, please continue to come". How sad ...the good and kind ones always go to heaven early.

There is no way to describe how sad I am at Mike's passing. He was a caring, kind soul and he kept enouraging me to be the best I can be. And that is to write. He told me I have a gift. But he is the one who had the gift. Yes, the group will go on. It is filled with the beautiful things that Mike made it possible for us to bring into our lives. Each other. Our encouraging each other, supporting each other helping our passion about writing explode into words on paper. Amazing stories and poems and books that make us who we are.

Miss you, Mike.

I have been trying to send an email to the entire group. Unfortunately, I can't do that without permission from the organizer. I tried to get Meetup to let me send an email without Mike's permission and here is their reply.

Thanks for touching base with us. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I'm afraid that due to security concerns, I can't alter the Mailing List settings without hearing from the email address that's associated with the Organizer's account; are you in touch with the family? If we receive a message from the email address associated with that account, we'll be able to discuss the account with them.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have a question.

Sincerely,

I guess we will just have to pass the word.

Hi everyone,

Just found out that there will be a memorial service for Mike on Feb. 24 at Wekiva Island @ 2pm. I called the guy whose phone number is at the bottom of Mike's obituary and he said the memorial will occur after the "clean-up" and that we could call Wekiva Island to get more info.

I am so saddened by this. I feel like all the people who have really made a difference in my life (for the better) are dying much sooner than they should. I have an extremely hard time excepting death. I just can't accept it. I'm one of these people who needs to be in control of everything and death is one of those things you just can't sway.

Sorry about my morbidity..

Hi everyone,

Please disregard my previous post re: the date and time of Mike's memorial. The person I originally called had said Feb. 24 but I just received an email from another group member stating that he contacted the funeral home and it would actually be taking place on Feb. 25 at Wekiva Island - thanks Rik!!

I called the first person I spoke whom relayed that the service would be Feb. 24 and told him I had heard that it was due to take place on Feb. 25 and he said the family must have changed the date. I confirmed this w/ the funeral home.

Sorry about the confusion!
