The Philadelphia Writers Meetup Group Monthly Meetup

It's a new location, The Church is Old First Reformed Church (historic!) and is located on the southeast corner of  4th and Race. The social hall has more than enough room and no one will be there to bother us. The best way to get there is to go into the main courtyard and then go around the side of the building. There is a large door on the 4th street side and that is the social hall entrance.  It's a new location for a very established writers group with a 10 year history.  Check out the "Pages" tab at the top of this page for more info.

Again, I wasn't able to make it. Next week is finals week, and I had to continue working on my two papers. One is due tomorrow and one is due on Tuesday. But I will definitely be there in Jan. I'm looking forward to my first meeting. I'm doing my Master's Thesis in the spring, and I will be working on my first novel, so maybe during the meeting I can get a few pointers on my work.

I saw this recently and thought of it during yesterday's "Dialogue" craft chat. Even though it's about film, it made me think about framing and positioning during dialogue scenes.

Charlie that's cool. And did you know that all types of mediums can help you w/ your craft? So even though a person may be a novel writer, a screenplay can help he/she with certain ideas and aspects. Even a painting. You could even be a YA fantasy writer and get some ideas from something that is contemporary non-fiction. So all genres and mediums go hand in hand...And I love the silence of the lambs. One of the greatest screenplays to see and read.

Through the rain just 16 showed up, but the group worked really well and everyone actively participated. 5 new people. The 4 critiques were insightful and helpful and the temporary leader was captivating and a fantastic, inclusive, motivational spiritual guide.

I can't change my RSVP, but I won't be there today. I need to work and sort things out. I guess close to Christmas is always busy. Have fun and looking forward to seeing you all next time.

I thought I'd be able to make it to the meeting a little late but not too late, but now I found out that I won't be able to make it at all since I have to work until 4. I hope everybody has a fun, worthwhile time and look forward to seeing you all next month for sure.

Good news and bad news: Good--8 weeks and my PLANETBALL! submission to Analog Sci-Fi Magazine is still listed as "Open," so I know I hasn't been rejected out of hand. Bad--I can't make the meetup today. Argh! Miss you guys.

Hello all, I have some pressing family business to attend to this weekend so I will not be able to attend the meeting on Saturday. I would like to take this time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year and I will see you next year.

Planning on making it out to the meet-up although I'll probably wind up being close to an hour late since I'm not gonna be getting out of work until 2(obvious downside to working a swing-shift job).
