I was disappointed that two writers to be critiqued didn't show up after all of the work I had done to critique their pieces.

33 people attended and braved the heat. 17 new people attended, pretty impressive. We discussed plot planning during craft chat and that went well with a variety of techniques contributed. We had only two "extended" critques as unfortunately two people were no shows, maybe the heat? About a dozen had drinks and dinner afterwards at the Marathon. Next month's craft chat should be a business topic, open to suggestions.

I like the format and some of the conversation was engaging.
Always interesting, always useful.
This was my first meetup. It was well organized. It was very resourceful and the other members were really welcoming. I'm looking forward to the next meetup
Today was my first time attending this meet up. It was not only inspiring but extremely well organized. The discussion was engaging, honest and thoughtful. I look forward to attending in August.

What a great group! Smart, funny, insightful, kind, and humble. And very well led!
PARKING: Closest indoor but $21 is several blocks south of Chestnut on 17th. Indoor @ $12 is 19th a 1/4 block north of Chestnut.
I wanted to attend this event but the extreme heat prevents me. I have a question about submissions where can they be found and how can we submit stories for the group to read?
Worthy as hot as it is today wear something cool and comfortable. If I could I wear a bathing suit. But I don't want anyone to go blind, start talking in tongues, or call the cops for crime and shame in progress

http://philadelphia.centralparking.com/Philadelphia-1608-Sansom-Street-Parking.html. Look for the location 1616 Sansom Street . There are also coupons on this site
Where is the best place to park? I don't know the area. I'm driving in from Delaware.
Hey Worthy! Don't talk yourself out of it! Come as you are and don't be nervous, we don't bite. :)
I actually think the children coming would be fine...they are not reading the pieces and rarely do our discussions ever venture into the seedy or inappropriate categories. I believe we can all keep in mind that there are children present...that being said, I wouldn't make it a regular thing...I think it would be a good thing to expose them to what happens at a writer's group...what if one of them is a future Dickens? :)
Nadira: $1 or $2 donations are always accepted, but not required.
Carla: If the kids are well-behaved, I don't see a problem THIS time. Sometimes, tho', the stories are age-inappropriate & would make us uncomfortable to have kids there.
Is there a cost to attend the meeting?

okay....is this a come as you are occassion, dress code, and i don't have a printer so will I be able to still attend......I guess I'm getting nervous and is trying to find a reason not to come, but important questions??? P.s. seems like a cool group:)
I will also have a bag of book Ihave read and enjoyed and want to pass on. Take one, enjoy it, pass it on. I don't want them back.
Since most of you are computer uers, there are two things you should know about. One is the Computer Thrift Store, where you can buy a rebuilt computer for about $100 with a 3-yr warranty. I have seen laptops there for $215. I got a laser printer this week for $40, and ther were more of them. I will have flyers Saturday.Second is FOSSCON, a one-day conference on open-source software and related systems. They will have a Linux demo there as well I should have flyers for that as well. Amie I understand! Trust me ! Gene is right the Liberty One is the coolest place in town The El runs all the time and buses have the air cranked up on full blast or they don't roll
Gene's right: the A/C in the Food Court is usually over the top. The one real danger is that the heat will cause public transit to break down...
Just to let everyone know, it's nice and air-conditioned inside the mall.

Thanks Julius! Unfortunately (I've been eager to try this writer's group) I will be away on vacation until July 8th. I will be attending the next meeting and look forward to meeting our members and their literary work.
Oh, and I am DEFINITELY going to be there on Saturday --- promise! :)
This is a reply to Jennifers question regarding a resource for agent listings...I would rather try websites like agentquery.com or the like...the websites are much cheaper (usually free!) and are much more current than a book.
hello steve i want to do my very first book how do i go about it

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
