About 30 members attended, 13 new people. Craft chat was about self editing and we had 3 critiques. Afterwards 10 of us met afterwards for drinks and dinner at the Marathon.

I'm assuming that we will not be doing Julius's piece since he has to miss today?

I somehow forgot this, even though I've attended these meetings multiple times. Whoops.
We start at 2 PM, and continue until what time?

That's a good question. This is my first time so I have no idea. And do we bring anything with us specific?
We meet from 2 pm until 5 pm, broken into two sessions. The first is craft chat, followed by a break. The second is critiques of this month's submissions. Participants are welcome to join the group for both or either session, depending on your schedule. Submitted manuscripts are emailed directly to members on our mailing list. Please feel free to bring your passion for writing and your interest in meeting other writers. I hope that helps! Please let me know if I can provide more info. -E
Ah maybe you can answer me this. I see the directions say corner of 17th and Chestnut, but google maps is showing it on corner of 19th. So which is it??
And thanks, Eric!
Hey Sophia...about 5...and Ana...just bring a notebook for now. Welcome!
For lots of specific info on our Meetup, please click on the "Pages" tab near the top of this web page. We meet in the Food Court of the Shops at Liberty Center. You can enter off of 16th, 17th, Market, or Chestnut Streets. Take stairs to the second level, follow food smells to the restaurant area, walk straight through, and hang a right at the pizza place. Walk past the velvet rope barrier and look for us gathered in the back. New participants typical mention having trouble locating us, but I guarantee that we'll be there, just beyond the rest rooms. Hope to see you there! -E
I looked the address up on the map and google maps says the location is on the corner of 19th. Wasn't sure because I heard the corner of 17th. Since it's my first time attending I wanted to make sure. Anyone know for sure?? Thanks!
hey, so what goes on at these monthly meetups? Thanks!

In short, we spend the first hour talking about that months topic. The rest of the time is spent going over the hand full of submissions from the previous month which we get via email.
Thought this should go here:

Joe: Do you remember what our $10 bet was about?
The subject was Job in the bible. I had said that Job finally capitulates. Read and weep! ;-)
42:1 Then Job answered the LORD, and said, 42:2 I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee. 42:3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. 42:4 Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. 42:5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. 42:6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
42:7 And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath. 42:8

Unfortunately Elisa Ludwig has to push us to December to speak to us. Her recently published YA title "Pretty Crooked" just came out from Harper Collins. (1st of a trilogy) She will talk about her road to publishing, her writing process and her new book. I saw her at her book signing/ teen workshop at B&N and asked her to come see us. More info at www.elisaludwig.com By the way her book is very entertaining.

Hi Steve, that sounds wonderful and I'm looking forward to hearing her speak in December about her book. This is exactly what I've been looking for to help me with publishing my book. I'll also take a look at her website.

Hi everyone :-) I will be back in the Spring, I am in the midst of changing careers (now a student), dealing with my son's illness, and now finding out my mother has cancer.. I'm still writing, however I did loose my train of thought for a few weeks, I'm back and I know things will get better so until then my fellow writers keep those pens or should I say laptops at arms reach :-)
P.S. I still check the board and get notification by email.. I plan to keep in touch..
