What is your favorite writing saying?

I only write when I'm inspired. I see to it that I'm inspired at 9 AM every morning. - (I forgot who said this. I'll track it down)

What is your favorite book on writing?

I don't know about favorite. I just finished, "On Becoming a Novelist" by John Gardner. It was simultaneously discouraging and inspiring, in specific enough ways to be useful. I'm currently going through, "How Fiction Works" by James Wood. Will this make me too self conscious? Perhaps. But I'm more in favor of understanding than mystical intuition.

What do you write?

In the process of finding my genre, I'm working on short stories. Oh, and my dissertation in Chemical Engineering. I want to, but can't forget that.

What do you read?

More than I should. Good fiction. Current events. Sentimental fiction. The Economist. Science. Wikipedia.

Tell me something else about yourself, please?

I'm a late arrival to writing, having already established my career in a very, very different direction. But if there is such a thing as a call, this is mine.
