I'm the president of the Mystery Writers of America New York chapter. We have a daylong writing seminar coming up in June called MWA University that might interest some of you. I am hoping to get the word out to local writers.

Here are the details:
MWA-University is coming to Philly on June 28. MWA-U is a full-day, low-cost writing seminar designed to teach participants the essential skills needed to write a novel. The seminar is NOT genre-specific and covers the novel-writing process from the idea phase to publication. The focus is on the craft of writing, and the courses are taught by published writers who are also experienced teachers. The core curriculum includes:

• After the Idea
• Dramatic Structure and Plot
• Setting and Description
• Character
• Editing
• The Writing Life

The workshop is open to the public and costs $50 for MWA members and $75 for non-members. Lunch included! Seating is limited, and pre-registration is required. Registration deadline is June 19.

The faculty will include Jess Lourey, Hallie Ephron, Reed Farrel Coleman, Kathleen George, and Hank Phillippi Ryan, and Daniel Stashower. For more about the faculty or in general, visit here for more details:
