AWG Meeting - Master Class

  • Jun 26, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Novelist Richard Peck, winner of the Newbury Medal, a finalist for a National Book Award, and recipient of many other honors, will share his insight on writing, story telling, character development, plot, and what makes a good novel for young readers.

No, he won't actually be there - he participated in the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators' Master Class series, hosted by author and SCWBI Executive Director Lin Oliver.  SCWBI and AWG Member Jennifer "The Wire" Blanck has loaned us a DVD copy of the discussion which we will screen.

Please bring some refreshments - popcorn, chips, pretzels, WHITE wine, soda, etc.

You can read more about Peck here.  And Lin Oliver here.

Sounds digitally cool, but I am out of pocket for work this week. Enjoy

Hi, I am interested in attending. Is there parking available?

    June 25, 2013

Street parking, Will. There's also a lot nearby at Courthouse that is free after 6pm.

The parking garage at 2100 Clarendon Blvd is free after 5:00 pm. If you can't find parking on the street, try there.

If/when people don't bring enough wine and popcorn, we'll try out Ireland's Four Courts. It's just up the street (literally, up it). Sometimes it's loud, but not if there's outdoor seating and the sun god hears our cries for mercy.

I'll be bringing a bottle. The sun god forsakes his subjects every sundown, leaving a more forgiving god in charge.

This one I can get to!

Sorry I can't make this; I'll be out of town for a couple weeks. I hope someone reviews the post-meeting entertainment available near Court House.
