Book Discussion from the Writer's Perspective

Join us at Quail Ridge Books at 6:30pm on Saturday December 21 for our series discussing books from a writer’s perspective. This event is free to attend, and newcomers are welcome.

Our featured book will be Charles Dickens's A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Each month we feature a different book and we will discuss the stories using the five-point framework of 1) character, 2) plot, 3) setting, 4) style, and 5) theme. Additionally, we will discuss how the story came to be published, how its publication impacted the author’s career, and how the story fits within its cultural and historical contexts and how it influenced other writers.

Please plan to have read or at least have some familiarity with A CHRISTMAS CAROL. This is not a requirement, of course, but it is encouraged.

Join or login to comment.

Thank you Stacey for all the research you did and shared with us about Dicken's tonight. it was very pleasant having a thought provoking discussion with a small group.

I'm so sorry to cancel so late. I had really wanted to come but just before the holiday found it was difficult to make it. I look forward to the next time, though

I'm not going to make it but I looked up some of the "juvenal" books that have illustrations and I really loved those! I even like the Mr. Magoo version of A Christmas Carol. Sorry I can't come, but I enjoyed reading this anyway.

I would go to this, but we have our annual Christmas Party at Red Sun Academy this night

Quail Ridge Books has copies of A Christmas Carol on their Holiday Books shelf, back toward the kids' section of the store.
