Twenty-six: A Memoir is about loss, grief, and rebuilding. It chronicles the story of my father's battle with a rare cancer and my motivation to run my first marathon for the American Cancer Society.
I am a contributing writer for Au Courant Magazine. A few of my articles have been re-printed in the Triangle Downtowner Magazine. I've had a few poems and essays published in the Loras College Outlet, and I'm just now starting to submit work to other literary journals.
I have a blog about running: alissakocer.wordpress.com
I have an MFA in Creative and Professional Writing from Western Connecticut State University. Prior to attending grad school, I was a high school English teacher in Iowa. I recently moved from Minnesota to Raleigh, and I'm looking for my next step!
