Writing in Community

People in difficult circumstances often feel isolated, alone, unsupported. A writing community can create a sense of trust, energy, and affirmation among participants. Writing in Community will guide writers in ways to build shared ownership within a writing group, highlight ways to release emotions and creativity via the written word, and show how facilitators and learners walk that path together.

In this fun, challenging all-day workshop, you will learn how to

         create a community of writers

foster physical and emotional well-being through poetry and prose

facilitate effectively working with diverse populations, including patients, caregivers, substance abusers, people in homeless shelters, prisoners, literacy students, the unemployed and others

         design effective, site-specific programs

approach institutions/facilities to offer your writing group facilitation

volunteer or charge for your time

stay connected with other writing group facilitators in the are

Workshop leaders Grey Brown and Richard Krawiec have a combined 50 years of experience training writers in how to teach in alternative settings.  Participants will receive a training certificate, and may be invited to participate in writing projects throughout the Triangle.

Seating is limited. Reservations are required.
