GTA WAPMM's First Collaborative Writing Project

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • now recruiting good writers to invent characters and write them up in a fully communally created story
  • Here's the idea: I have a plot for a play that has many characters, this will become the big skeletal bones of our story. Those of you who are interested in contributing, can create characters and write up their words and actions, this will be the flesh that sits on the bones. Altogether we create an absolutely brilliant script that we have produced and it becomes a big sensational hit. Have we got the talent to pull it off? Let's find out!

We'll have to use all the tools at our disposal to pull this off. Live in-person meetups, the forum, email lists, even phone calls! It will take many months. We need to assemble a really useful group of core people who can commit, perform and be counted on to pull through in a crunch. Probably a small group at first which grows as people see we are serious and we're making it happen. I'm serious about this, each of us on our own will contribute a small piece of a play that taken together will be a masterpiece. Let's do it.

We have a great group of talented people here that can provide more than just the words to the script. I'm thinking of music, visuals, dance and lots of other stuff. We are a creative artillery battery and we just need a target to open up on and fire our ammo.

If you feel the call then sign up for the startup event which will be me presenting my plot. It is very modern, both a social criticism and a psychological allegory that savagely exposes the failings of the media and the evils of corporations and their government whores. It rips the masks of normalcy off the psychopaths and shines a spotlight on their twisted faces. Something that should happen a lot more often. I hope you like this idea because I feel very strongly about it.

I hope you're having a great summer and talk to you soon!

I just hope that it's on either a Tuesday/Wednesday evenings, either on Saturday/Sunday during the day, Saturday preferably before 4 pm.

Bless you for remaining hopeful about this project, Shirley. It's been in a coma for years it seems. I don't know what's happened to Don Garb, but I'm still game. We just have to find a place to meet and get started. Maybe we should have a roll call of people who are also still interested and we can work this out. Everyone still interested, post here.

So when are we going to get a date and a location? I feel very strongly about the nature of the "plot" as described; I could even provide some stories in the real world which would make it believable. After all, all fiction is based on facts. PS. Hope the location has easy parking or transit and not out of the way somewhere in the wilderness....

Sounds like writers - we transit from one story to another in different time frames. But eventually we meet and get a story.
    I will attend again.

I am interested, but I need more specifics on when this would be happening.

Actually I am just keeping the group alive; I don't really participate in the meetups. It's up to individual members to propose and organize meetings. It seems to be Don Garb's initiative, so he should probably do it, but anyone else is able to propose times or places for announced meetups, subject to the agreement of the participants. I'd say someone should just do it and see what the response is.

Shouldn't this be you Glendenning, since you are the group organizer?

I'm interested as well. I work evenings and weekends, but I'm sure a lot of aspiring writers do!
I've written for the stage before and found it to be incredibly rewarding, so this seems like an exciting opportunity.

Love the idea. During the summer, I'm free most evenings as well as weekends (Thursdays are questionable). However, when school starts back in the fall, my schedule through the week is tight. I'll probably free only on weekends.
