One week later, and I am going strong with my new writing routine. I loved learning about the snowflake method to organize a novel. Does anyone have a good method for organizing a short story?

While I'm not a short story writer, here are some links that might help.

I will arrive in Onjuku around 10 pm.

    October 11, 2013

    • Erik

Great! Sorry I can't be there at the monthly meeting due to my job (you know, that thing that interrupts my writing time). I think by then you will be moved from the waiting list to the attending list as people update their RSVPs. If you aren't, please check with Lauren to see if it is OK to attend anyway. Usually 1 or 2 people are no-shows to these monthly events. -E

      October 18, 2013

    • Khai

Barbara, I'm sure it will be okay if you attend. I have never seen full attendance before; we usually get between 6-15 writers. :) Hope to see you there!

HI All- please fill out the survey! Thanks

I am thinking of taking the following train:

Tokyo to Onjuku (18:16-20:06) 1,890 yen
JR Keiyo Line Commuter Rapid Service for Katsuura

This seems the fastest for the cheapest price for those working around Otemachi. I checked the Keiyo Line on wikipedia... does the train actually stop at Onjuku? According to Yahoo.jp transit site it does.

Khai thanks for your leadership and your writing on the trip. Awesome having you there. For the SPRING retreat would you be willing to lead a discussion on the character mapping you have done. Also can you send us that blog entry link?

      October 16, 2013

    • Khai

Yeah, no worries. I'd be glad to do it.

This is the travel writing piece I talked about in the morning. Practical information creatively imparted. This was selected for the anthology of the Best Creative Nonfiction pieces a few years ago:

Hey everyone, I just wanted to say thank you to you all for a wonderful weekend. I have been so excited about writing today, I even skipped out of a meeting to go to my scheduled writing time early. You all were just the inspiration I needed to start listening to that inner voice again, the one who wants to write, write, write. Thank you all!

Here's the link to the advice column by Cheryl Strayed I talked about during one of our sessions. I highly recommend that you read this if you call yourself a writer but have not yet reached anywhere you want.

I found this link on Google. It seems to match up best with the not-to-scale, out-of-proportion map on the Flying Sumo site. Is this the correct place? A search using the address or the link at the top of this page seem to produce the wrong results. -E

    July 21, 2013

I'm not 100 percent sure about my schedule either, but I'd love to join--hope there'll be enough people.

    July 20, 2013

  • Khai

This has so much promise! I'll need to talk to my wife before I can 100% confirm my place.

Also, I was wondering why the rendezvous time is 7:00pm in Onjuku? For people who are working like me, we can't get out of the office until around 5:30pm. I would love to accept a lift in your car with you Lauren, but you're probably leaving before 5:30pm, right?

    July 19, 2013

    • lauren s.

Not 7 that was the time I expected people to catch the train in tokyo! Will try to make that more clear. I will prob go down earlier to miss the traffic. Maybe leaving fri morning/ early afternoon
