As our group expands, we are spinning off additional sessions on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each Month.
WHAT TO BRING:
It's not mandatory to read anything (especially if it's your first meeting). We appreciate members who attend in order to listen and provide feedback.
If you do have something to read, please bring copies of your work to share. If the group is too large to bring a copy for each person attending, we can usually get by with sharing copies.
You can also post ahead of time in the "Files" section. If you do, please leave a note in the comments section to let us know.
$5 recommended donation to go toward the rent of the room. SCHEDULE: 6:15 - 6:30: Meet, chat, get settled in 6:30: We take turns reading our work aloud. It allows for the writer to hear how his/her words sound to others, and allows the listeners/readers to hear how the story was intended by the author. After reading for ten minutes, everyone present offers feedback and critique. We prefer to focus on big-picture issues, such as character development, plot points, story potential etc., rather than proper use of commas or other minute details. 8:45 is our target finish time. When we have more than 8 readers, we draw names from a basket.
NOTE: 10 minutes can go pretty quickly, so we suggest reading your submission prior to the session to get a sense of timing. 6 to 8 pages (double-spaced) is usually the maximum.
Please remember that every writer is at a different level in his or her writing career, and not everyone has the same goals. We ask that you please be respectful and timely in your feedback.
