Announcing a new Meetup for The Seattle Writers Meetup Group!

What: November Meetup #2

When: Monday, November 15,[masked]:30 PM

Donation: $5.00 per person

Where: Standing Stone Healing And Arts (formerly BodySong Healing & Arts Center)
943 N. 89th Street
Seattle, WA 98103

Welcome writers, new and old!

There's been some upheaval on the meetup site, as Thomas has stepped down from the lead organizer position as Laura has stepped up. I will continue on as a co-organizer, and Thomas will still be a member. In fact, Thomas will be hosting this meetup on the 15th, as I have recently become aware of a conflict on my own calendar, and Laura may or may not be present, as that is the day she arrives home after an out-of-state trip.

Thank you for your patience as we RE-SCHEDULE what was lost on our calendar!

Come join us with your work and let's share feedback.

You may post ahead of time in the "Files" section, although it is not required. The schedule is:

6:15 - 6:30 Meet, chat, get settled in

6:30 We take turns reading our work aloud. Yes, aloud! It allows for the writer to hear how his/her words sound to others, and allows the listeners/readers to hear how the story was intended by the author. After reading for about ten minutes, everyone present offers feedback and critique. We like to focus on big-picture issues, such as character development, plot points, story potential etc., rather than proper use of commas or other minute details.

Finish: usually sometime between 8:00 and 9:00, depending on the number of writers sharing

We suggest you bring about 6-10 pages of typed work, double-spaced, or the equivalent (or less). If your short story just happens to be one extra page, we're usually fine, but if it is a section of a larger work, remember that we need time for all members. Many members bring several copies to pass around for reading along, but it is not required.

We looking forward to hearing what you've been working on!
