San Antonio Writer's Meetup

For this meeting, we suggest you write a story about a picture of your choice. It can be any genre. (Please bring the picture with you to the meeting.)

However, note that you do not have to write on the suggested topic. Instead,  you can bring anything you're working on. Writers will read their work at the meeting, not to exceed about 1200 words in length. We offer a light critique. Our intentions are to share and encourage.

A very friendly and positive response to my poem, so much so, that I've submitted it to the Express-News poetry column!

I believe I am scheduled to attend, not on waiting list. I can double check but don't believe I was on a wait list.

You are on the YES list. See you there.

Matt informed me that he will not be able to attend, but he didn't seem to be able to change his YES RSVP to NO. So if you are near the top of the Wait List, there should be room for you.

For the Story, does it have be fiction, non-fiction? Does it have to be a picture in my home or can I just pull one of the inter-webs? Just curious.

I would like to encourage new writers to try self-publishing, I have a lot of ideas, tips, advice and strongly support self-publishing.

I've self-published two e-books in the Amazon Kindle Store thus far. The URL to get started is http://kdp.amazon.com

My how time passes! It has been a year and I still have not made a meeting. I am almost done with school though! I still enjoy writing and desire to build my writing skills. I also want to write about other things besides what is required in school work. That's why I joined this group last year, to meet other good writers and get some more experience! Unfortunately I work Sunday the 12th. It seems like I work a lot of the meet up dates but I will keep looking at the dates and hopefully make some of the meetups this year!

What is really the Maximum length in words
I heard at the past meeting that it was 500 then 800 but the Site says 1200 I would like to be clear on that so I can comply
    Thanks

    December 12, 2013

    • Gene

We suggest a length between 800 and 1200 words and it it's longer than that, we ask you to read only 1200.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
