Just found this group and wanted to learn more. Do people meet and do readings to share their work? My first book won the Transformational Author contest. Am working on my second, and am planning a third one. All are nonfiction. Anyway, I'm looking for a place where I can share, offer feedback, etc. Wanting to find a group that is focused.

I want to recommend a book that does an outstanding job of demonstrating how NOT to write a book. Waaaaaaaay too much backstory. Tell, tell, tell. Beating the dead horse. Etc.
"The Eleventh Plague" by John Baldwin and John S. Marr. (There are 7 books with that title.) http://books.google.com/books/about/The_Eleventh_Plague.html?id=I4BLRzo6kLgC
I picked it up and tried to read it quite a few years ago. Now I can read it, because it's interesting to identify what's wrong with it.

If any interest, I'll bring to our mtg a variety of hd's, many 1st ed, w/ dj's in mint condition for the taking. Your choice of mostly contemporary fiction w/ Asian intrigue, e.g., Riding the Snake by Stephen J. Cannell. What you don't want will go to Friends of the Library. Since my Asian-Pacific used-book business ended in 2011, time to free up space & redecorate (w/ different books). Any objections? thanks.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
