"The KONE Regional Sport Kite Competition and Bob Tatten Memorial Kite Festival will be held Saturday June 6th at Nahant and Lynn Beach (Long Beach Reservation). Events run from 9:30AM to 4:30PM. Come see sport kites, single line kites, and run with the bols. Free admission!"
This event is a great opportunity to shoot not only kites in the air, but also people on the ground. And COLOR!
We will carpool to Nahant for this, so please indicate in your RSVP whether you can give rides, or need a ride.
MEETING LOCATION UPDATE 6/5:
We will meet in the long beach parking lot, at the end closest to the LYNN side of the causeway. We'll gather there until 9:45-9:50 or so and then go off to shoot. If you arrive after that you'll have to wander around the beach looking for us ;-)
Here's a map with the meeting location marked:

For your GPS: lat=42.454662, lon=-70.937248
The morning's events take place both on the beach and on the ball fields (use satellite view on the map linked above to reconnoiter the area). Park in either the small lot at the ball fields, or the looooooong lot along the causeway -- whichever you prefer -- but we are meeting up in the causeway parking lot, at the end closest to lynn/brick building. (so if you park in the ball fields lot, you'll cross the causeway on foot to meet up with everyone).
Please note, if you plan to park in the beach lot (on the causeway), you may need to drive the length of the causeway, enter the parking lot at the Nahant end, then drive back over the causeway inside the parking lot to reach the area where we'll meet up. The beach lot entrance at the Lynn end isn't always open.
THERE IS A FEE TO PARK IN THE BEACH LOT -- I THINK IT'S $3 BUT IT MIGHT BE SLIGHTLY MORE.
Those of us staying past the morning will have lunch at the Tides restaurant/pub, and then you can stay and shoot through the afternoon, or not, as you choose. I've eaten at the The Tides several times, and it's been decent though I suggest sticking with the 'pub food' type choices (sandwiches/burgers, etc). See their site for menu and prices: http://www.tidesnahan...
