Dainius Macikenas' "Shadows of Gray" Opening Reception

This exhibit represents Dainius?s return to film photography, after several years of exploring digital image capture. The images were conceived on a recent retreat from New England?s brisk Spring to the solitude of California: Death Valley and Yosemite. Working with medium format film allows and even requires mindfulness and awareness, as each shutter opening has to be premeditated. It can become a refuge to those seeking to stay in the current moment, not rushing to the future and not dwelling on the past ? but rather feeling what is here and now. And stopping the moment on film.
