Welcome to The Houston Pagan Meetup Group, as pagan's we are a very open minded set of people who welcome all forms of religious thought and love to share and explore them together. We don't "preach" to others and don't appreciate being "preached to" so you know you can just relax and kick back at our meetup's without having to worry about being 'right' or 'wrong' with your beliefs.
Occasionally members will talk about all aspects of life involving, obviously, religion, politics (although we do not have any particular political leanings as a group), sex and every other life subject you can imagine.
During the year we will offer members a number of talks from experts on subjects from basic rituals and paths to study classes in tarot, palmistry, numerology, astrology, use of stone magic, knowledge on various paths and a number of public rituals that all members are invited to.
In addition we have a number of members private rituals that are by invitation only, at the discretion of the member holding the ritual, held in private homes. Normally members of good standing will receive prior opportunity to attend as these are usually restricted by the available space.
Some of our more experienced members also offer training to new members for initiation into covens or solitary path vocations.
Some of our meetup's are free. The group, organization, or individual may choose to charge for the event. This site will be Charging $6 annual membership. Meetup gives 2 weeks from joining the group to pay or they auto remove you.

(from Latin paganus, meaning "country dweller, rustic", also called paynimry) is a word used to refer to various religions and religious beliefs from across the world. It is a term which, from a Western perspective, has modern connotations of spiritualist, animistic or shamanic practices or beliefs of any folk religion, and of historical and contemporary polytheistic religions in particular.
The term can be defined broadly, to encompass the faith traditions outside the Abrahamic monotheistic group of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The group so defined includes many of the Eastern religions, Native American religions and mythologies, as well as non-Abrahamic ethnic religions in general. More narrow definitions will not include any of the world religions and restrict the term to local or rural currents not organized as civil religions. Characteristic of pagan traditions is the absence of proselytism and the presence of a living mythology which explains religious practice.
The term "pagan" is a Christian adaptation of the "gentile" of Judaism, and as such has an inherent Abrahamic bias, and pejorative connotations among Westerners, comparable to heathen, and infidel, mushrik and kafir (كافر) in Islam. For this reason, ethnologists avoid the term "paganism," with its uncertain and varied meanings, in referring to traditional or historic faiths, preferring more precise categories such as polytheism, shamanism, pantheism, or animism; however others criticise the use of these terms, claiming that these are only aspects that different faiths may share and do not denote the religions themselves.Blog Talk radio program
