The Community Renewal Chorus is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting and celebrating diversity, equality, peace and justice through music. As one of the few community musical groups in the United States whose diversity truly reflects the face of urban America, we believe music has the power to inspire, educate, celebrate, forewarn, and challenge. The Chorus is a living witness that people can break through the walls that separate human beings from each other and form a community where the contributions, capacities, gifts and talents of all are appreciated, affirmed and celebrated. Since 1976 the Chorus has been active in Chicago's musical life, has performed at public functions, on TV, and in churches and concert venues throughout the region, and has also been welcomed enthusiastically in 15 foreign countries on eight international "Friendship Tours." Join us to sing at our rehearsals on Tuesday evenings near the UIC campus in Chicago or join us to attend one of our performances throughout the Chicagoland area during the Holiday season or in the late Spring. *A membership diverse in race, faith perspective, economic backgrounds, political affiliations, and sexual orientations. *A repertoire of music representing a variety of races, cultures, languages, and ethnic heritages. *Performances in cities and neighborhoods, major concert venues and small churches.
