I'm working on the list of upcoming sushi events and wanted to ask you a question before I announce them to over 1,000 people (on meet up and the sushi club website).
Through my job, I have the opportunity to hire an authentic Japanese comedian (he speaks fluent english) to perform for our club the night of September 7th. He would perform for one hour and speak in English.
I can arrange for the comedian to land in Houston and perform for us for an hour the night of September 7th. Additionally, we can have sushi appetizers and beverages. Total cost per member? About $10 - $15 maximum.
I thought it would be a good idea to do something really different, but I wanted your opinions first.
Our club has three directives: (1) To find all of the great, good, poor and unacceptable sushi in Houston. We want to find it all. (2) To gather together and enjoy great conversation about sushi. (3) To simply have fun.
Members, please take note: You will be contacted before the event and You MUST confirm your attendance before the event, if you reserve a seat in your name. In many cases, we ask restaurants to create special meals for us at a great discount. This means we are accountable for those meals. If you reserve a seat or seats, we will contact you before the event to ensure that you will be attending. If you do not confirm your attendance, a seat will not be saved for you. Additionally, if you confirm your attendance and do not show up, we will remove you from the club. If you are part of both of my groups (the Asian Dining Group and Sushi Club of Houston), you will be removed from both groups. Please understand...it's not personal. We follow the rules. The club cannot purchase meals for 'empty chairs.' It isn't fair for the organizer to pay for a meal that you signed up for.
99.9% of our events sell out. An empty seat is something we truly wish to avoid at all costs...and there are no exceptions to this rule.
