One of my all-time favorite restaurants, Kubo's Sushi Bar and Grill, has offered us a chance to participate in a contest. Our members would be allowed to 'build' a sushi roll online. You, as a member of the sushi club, can develop your own idea of 'a GREAT roll' on our Sushi Club website. Then, 9 judges would select the top 5 sushi roll ideas. The 5 rolls would become a list of specials on the menu at Kubo's. For 30 days, Kubo's would monitor the sales and orders of all 5 rolls. The winning roll (most orders) would become a special roll on their menu for a period of time and the creator of the roll itself would win $300.00. Second place would receive $100.00.
What do you think....should we do it?
Give me your opinions!!!!!! Let's make a decision as a group!
Our club has three directives: (1) To find all of the great, good, poor and unacceptable sushi in Houston. We want to find it all. (2) To gather together and enjoy great conversation about sushi. (3) To simply have fun.
Members, please take note: You will be contacted before the event and You MUST confirm your attendance before the event, if you reserve a seat in your name. In many cases, we ask restaurants to create special meals for us at a great discount. This means we are accountable for those meals. If you reserve a seat or seats, we will contact you before the event to ensure that you will be attending. If you do not confirm your attendance, a seat will not be saved for you. Additionally, if you confirm your attendance and do not show up, we will remove you from the club. If you are part of both of my groups (the Asian Dining Group and Sushi Club of Houston), you will be removed from both groups. Please understand...it's not personal. We follow the rules. The club cannot purchase meals for 'empty chairs.' It isn't fair for the organizer to pay for a meal that you signed up for.
99.9% of our events sell out. An empty seat is something we truly wish to avoid at all costs...and there are no exceptions to this rule.
