Raised in Boston, I have been a happy west-coast transplant for many years. Father was an immigrant from Latvian Jewish community, our synagogue was Orthodox but neither parent spoke much about god. Have been Jewishly-identified and adamantly humanist most of my life, which made for uncomfortable moments in the traditional Jewish community and in the atheist community. What a relief to have found the humanistic Jewish movement, reflecting the truth of who I am.

We are a small-ish self-led community of mostly retired academics and professionals who find discussion and laughter irresistible. We are friendly and warm and appreciate being among liberal, freethinking, humanistic Jews and their friends and families, all of whom are welcome.
