Zen Meditation: Sitting with Stories that Change Our Lives

KOANS are not merely old stories. They are actual GATES through which we can walk into a world that knows no distinction between self and other, moon and stars, holy and profane. It is a world of complete FREEDOM. In practice, we learn that the world of FREEDOM is OUR WORLD. Please join us on this PATH OF DISCOVERY.
JON JOSEPH, a Zen Teacher in the PZI lineage, began sitting Zen over 40 years ago with a small group of high school friends, and later took his practice to logging camps and fishing villages of Alaska and to the redwoods of California's North Coast. He later traveled to Kamakura, Japan, studying 8 years with YAMADA KOUN ROSHI, at the SANUN ZENDO. Jon took up KOAN PRACTICE in the late 1980s with JOHN TARRANT ROSHI, and now serves as the Board President and Head of Practice at the Pacific Zen Institute.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
