Hi everyone,

If you haven't attended this before, this is a wonderful Austin tradition that is in the 17th year--if I am in town for Thanksgiving I will be here--you purchase a hand made pottery bowl, local restaurants donate soup, always free music--proceeds go to Capitol Food bank--

Something from their web page--

The Austin Empty Bowl Project (AEBP) was the first of its kind in Texas, founded in 1997 by Kit Adams, the owner of ClayWays Pottery... Studio & Gallery. Each year, AEBP has grown in participation by both donors and attendees and, with the help of our generous community, we have raised more than $500,000! In 2011 AEBP became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and can now accept funds directly and those donations are tax deductible.

Potters from all over Central Texas donate bowls of all sizes, shapes, and colors. Thirty restaurants and bakeries donate delicious soups and breads, while musicians donate their time and talent to entertain us. Then, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, friends and families come together to purchase a bowl for $20, have it filled with soup, and enjoy the music. The bowl is yours to keep, as a reminder of those whose bowls are empty. The proceeds go to the Capital Area Food Bank to help sponsor the Kids Cafe Program. Kids Cafe provides a safe, nurturing place where children receive a hot, nutritious dinner, as well as help with homework.

Hope to see you there

Wendy

I didn't arrive until 2:15. Couldn't decide which bowl I liked best, so came home with three.

Event starts at 11am--line starts about an hour earlier than that because you get to pick your bowl first--they usually sell out--I am a weak maybe on this--fyi---

Here is a link to their website. It appears the only tickets or sign up is for the preview party on Saturday.

Do we need to do anything to reserve tickets? Or do we just show up and pay at the door?

Hey everyone--okay we so have an issue of timing here--the NY Giants are playing the Crappy Cowboys and the timing is going to over lap a bit, and I will need to be in front of the big television at kickoff----so--I will need to update timing--

This is really a great event. I'm a potter (for fun) and make bowls to donate every year. Don't feel like you have to get there super early to get the best bowls, bowls are put out randomly all during the event. There is always a great selection, everything from children's bowls to professional's bowls.

November is still a while away. Many variables may supersede this date ---- in the meantime, this sounds like a fun event - Thank You Wendy.
