From Agile to Lean : Extending Agile principles via Lean Startup theory

Over the past 8 years, Agile development has become a true mainstream methodology, with over 60% of companies reporting adoption as of 2010 (Cap-Gemini). However, in practice many Agile users and processes still suffer from a lack of day-to-day or even week-to-week participation from business owners - whether managers, sales/marketing or clients. Lean Startup theory, which extends the iterative nature of Agile to startup formation and market development, has the potential to change all of that. As chronicled recently in the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, Lean Startup theory is aligning the goals of Agile developers and business management in startups and established companies worldwide. Come and get a primer on Lean Startup theory and why it can make a big difference for you and your organization !

Joe Chin is the Founder and CEO of SourcePad, an instant outsourcing company that deploys Agile and Lean Startup theory in its work with over 40+ startup and corporate clients. Prior to SourcePad, Joe was the founding CEO of Guidester (now Searchandise Commerce) an eCommerce ad network. Joe was also the Managing Director of REOL, Internet Analyst at Laidlaw, founder/President of Diadem (a multi-player game company), and founder/principal of JEV (an import/export company). Joe is a frequent speaker and has been quoted in numerous publications such as BusinessWeek, Fortune, and Inc. Magazine.

I really wanted to hear more about how to roll Lean out to the organization not what lean is.

Interesting topic; lots of discussion but the presentation was perfectly geared with few enough slides not to get derailed and yet finished on time.
