I am sorry to "spam" both groups - as only a member of each group I am not able to select just those planning on attending our first, joint, code adventure
. While I will be a "project leader" at the meeting, I wanted to share a few observations as an attendee.
I have had the good luck - and pure enjoyment - of attending many "user group" meetings (I've been a software developer for over 40 years.) I have found only one essential requirement: attend :-) Many times I've felt challenged leaving my personal comfort zone (ask me about the sleep over at the code camp at Microsoft a few years ago
or the one at Brooklyn Poly a few months ago
) but I have yet to regret ever doing so!
You may not be familiar with our meeting space
(scroll down a bit to the Bedford Ave "L" subway station (easiest Manhattan access) or scroll up for the Nassau Ave "G" stop.) This area of Brooklyn is Williamsburg; it will be crowded and it will offer a number of "interesting attractions" (long time locals use a more Brooklyn phraseology.) We will meet at 181 North 11th St. (a few blocks from either subway.) We are at the offices of Alias-I: 401. Early on we will have someone downstairs letting you in; later ring the bell (on the left hand side facing the building.) (NB: I doubt anyone will be checking the sign up sheet - hint, hint, but don't tell Marco.)
I believe the meeting will be enjoyable. We have time enough to explore several semantic topics and maybe discuss the future.
Looking forward to meeting you,
