What: In a traditional software project, the integration phase is a long and unpredictable task, fraught with risk. In a software project that employs Continuous Integration, on the other hand, the integration phase is almost an afterthought, the team is always ready to deploy new code, and the business can continuously assess the value being delivered. Every project can benefit by implementing CI, from a long running one to one that is just starting up. This talk will discuss the benefits of Continuous Integration, how to implement it on a new project or add it to an existing one, and give a quick overview of the various CI tools that are available.
Who: Kurt Schrader has spent over 15 years developing software and leading agile software teams. He is currently Head of Engineering at Intent Media where he spends his time making sure that developers are happy, the business is happy, and that the process is continually refined to keep it that way. Kurt has worked as a consultant and agile coach to some of the world's largest companies, cofounded several startups, and contributed to more than a handful of open source projects. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan and can often be found wandering the East Village with his dog and a good book.
