"Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo"
Written by Rajiv Joseph
Press Opening, October 5th

In this Pulitzer Prize finalist, two US Marines and an Iraqi translator are thrust into a world of greed, mystery and betrayal after an encounter with a now-deceased but still very pissed-off tiger. The streets of war-torn Baghdad are filled with ghosts, riddles and wry humor in this groundbreaking play that explores the power and perils of human nature.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia page for the play so that you can read about it more detail and see some of the reviews for when it was performed on Broadway:

NOTE: Goldstar, the entertainment discount website, is offering discounted tickets for this play in November, but NOT for the Oct. 5 performance. The October 5 show is the official opening night and there are NO discount tickets available from Goldstar--only full-priced, expensive tickets are left.

Ahlan, I HIGHLY recommend that those who want to see this play purchase advance tickets for this performance. October 5 is the official opening and the press night so this performance may sell out early. I don't want anyone to be disappointed and find out that the show is sold out when you get there so to guarantee your seat, buy your ticket in advance. This play is being performed until November 16 so there are many opportunities to see it. However, I will be reviewing this play for Aslan Media (I'm an arts writer) and attending the press night on Oct. 5 so that I why I planned this meetup for this particular date.

Hi Farah, like to fill in for a role in upcoming plays. But have to like the character role. I can also write scenario from various viewpoints.

Thanks Jack. The play is being performed by San Francisco Playhouse so Yalla Arabi has nothing to do with the production. If you are interested in acting, you can send them your photo and biography.

I read the play a few weeks ago and I would describe it as a dark comedy and a metaphor about war. Actor Robin Williams starred in this play when it was performed in New York on Broadway a few years ago (he's not in the San Francisco production, however).

Also, because I'm critiquing the show, I may not be able to meet with any Yalla members before or after the play because I may be interviewing the actors and crew. But, for those who are interested in seeing the play, feel free to get together on your own before or after. I just may not able to join you this time. I posted this event because this is an award-winning play. A friend of mine is working as an Arabic language consultant for the actors. The play is in English, but there is some Iraqi dialect used here and there.
