Join Yalla Arabi for the 19th Annual Arab Cultural Festival!

19th Annual Arab Cultural Festival

Saturday October 5th, 2013
San Francisco's Union Square!
FREE Admission!

Every October, the Arab Cultural and Community Center in San Francisco hosts the Arab Cultural Festival. It is the largest celebration of Arab arts and culture in Northern California. Since 1995, this event features arts, entertainment, cuisine, crafts, traditions, and, most importantly, the spirit of Arab Americans and of the Arab world. On the stage at the center of the booth bazaar, performers will present Arab music and dance from across America and the Arab world.

The festival is accessible to all Bay Area community members, whether they live in the East Bay, the South Bay or the nearby neighborhoods of San Francisco, via the nearby BART and MUNI stations.

The event is open and welcoming to people from all backgrounds who want to see world-class performances, take part in children's activities, purchase handicrafts or just enjoy delicious treats. The Arab Cultural Festival is a vital ingredient in the Bay Area's diverse and vibrant cultural scene.

We had 50 RSVPs but you never know how many people actually showed up. At the Palestinian Festival 2 weeks ago we had 40 RSVPs and only 3 people(+me) showed up. The 4 of us waited, on time, for a half hour and no one else arrived or updated their RSVPs or posted a comment, but we waited anyway...it's an imperfect system open to suggestions and improvement on all sides.

Sandra, I'm sorry you weren't able to grab a tasty meal from the festival or the options around Union Square. Emporio Cafe also has great options.

Nope. I paced around & waited for 30 mins. No one looking for the new folks either.

Me neither. No sign. No red pole. Been waiting since 1:50. Really disappointing initiation to this group :(

Sandra, we must've just missed each other. I'm very sorry. Meeting at these big events is so tough.

This year's festival was an amazingly rich event, despite the unfortunate meet-up confusion, and I truly hope everyone, whoever showed up, enjoyed it tremendously. The festival offered so much, from the food to the entertainment and the beautiful items and artwork to see and purchase. It was just incredible! The crowd was larger than ever!

I'm so sorry for the confusion over meeting up yesterday. Things tend to happily go pretty well for the group, but yesterday my train was late from work into San Francisco. I did however arrive at Cafe Emporio by 2:15pm with my sign and didn't see anyone. I waited ten minutes and gave up because I figured by 2:25pm you all gave up already. Part of the problem is there isn't a good *specific* place to meet for the festival at Union Square that isn't super crowded. I also DO NOT have a smart phone to check on Yalla Arabi statuses. New phone is coming ASAP. Again, my sincerest apologies for the confusion.
