EID AL ADHA BBQ & POTLUCK GATHERING
We are gathering together on Sunday Oct. 20th at 2pm for a relaxing afternoon backyard BBQ and potluck filled with Arabic/English conversation, good times, music and some Arabic/English poetry. RAIN OR SHINE. If it rains, we'll be inside of course.
Oct 15th is the official 2013 date for the Islamic Eid Al Adha holiday. This won't be a religious gathering per se, but a gathering of friends to acknowledge the holiday. Please: no alcohol at this event.
LOCATION: The home is in El Cerritto above San Pablo between Moeser Lane and Potrero Ave. The exact address will be announced the day before the event.
Members are encouraged to network and make friends. Ride sharing is a great way to meet new people and practice your Arabic and/or English!
Feel free to post on the event thread what you would like to bring/share for the *POTLUCK*
Eid al-Adha follows the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which Muslims are required to make at least once in their lives. Eid al-Adha is also known as the Feast of Sacrifice because it traditionally includes the sacrifice of an animal permitted for food (eg. a lamb) as an act of thanksgiving for God’s mercy. Some Muslims seek out a farm where they can carry out the sacrifice, but many also send money to their native lands to help fund a sacrifice. Eid al-Adha lasts for up to three days and is a time to seek mercy from God.
