December 3, 2012
I have taken the two highest colloquial Levantine Arabic classes at the Qasid Arabic Institute in Amman, Jordan. Additionally, I have spent the last 26 months living and working in an orphanage in Jordan where I have communicated almost exclusively in Arabic.
I am hoping to gain practice in Arabic as well as the opportunity to share my experience in Jordan throughout the last 26 months. Arabic culture has deeply and wonderfully impressed itself upon me, and I would like to be surrounded by people who are similarly interested and passionate about it.
From Naija at the Pacific Arabic Institute, who informed me that there would not be classes sufficient for me to continue to practice conversational Arabic until the beginning of March. I do not want to regress, so I asked her for what resources she knew of for me to continue practicing with other people that are either native speakers or love the language as much as I do.
Currently serving in the United States Peace Corps in Marka, Jordan where I've been for the past 26 months. In December I will be returning to San Francisco (hopefully returning to Jordan next summer!), and I would love to practice/learn more Arabic!
