It's time again for Yappy Hour! Our next event is a bit off-beat, but touts the tried & true elements that make our meetups so fabulous -- dogs & booze! AND it's for charity!
Saturday, June 13th, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm, Gimelli's Italian Restaurant will have a dog-friendly wine tasting. Those of you who love wine, and your dogs who love to whine, should be in heaven! For the meager cost of just $10, proceeds benefiting Planned Pethood International, you will be able to sample a wide variety of fine wines and hors d'oeuvres. And all with your faithful dog in tow! There will also be a pooch walk, fyi.
Gimelli's doesn't have much of a web site at this time, but I found some reviews online here and here. Very positive, so the food should be good!
I'm not organizing this event, per se, only promoting it to the group as a dog-friendly event we can go to. I don't have much more information than what I've written above. When I find out more, I'll post updates and send out emails. But let's face it -- it's got dogs, booze, & food. And it's for a good cause! What more do you need to know?
Just to reiterate, this is a benefit wine tasting, so you can feel proud while you're getting plowed! But no, really, come out to help out a great pet charity, and have a good time at the same time! Proceeds will be donated to Planned Pethood International. Click on that link to learn more about them, yo.
Just so it's clear, please RSVP for HUMAN BEINGS ONLY. This gives us a more accurate head count for the event, which is important for its organization. If you like, you can state the number of dogs you're bringing in your comments area.
Like I said, Gimelli's is doing all of the organizing for this event, so there's no additional meetup fee beyond the $10 event fee, which I'm sure Gimelli's will charge you at the door.
MIND YOUR DOG
It's great of Gimelli's to have a dog-friendly event, but a restaurant is not traditionally a dog-friendly environment. Just so it's explicitly stated: MIND YOUR DOG. Keep your other eye on it and don't let it get out of control! Also, keep your dog in the patio area, and don't let it wander into the restaurant! Manage your pooch so all can enjoy this fantastic event!
Along the same vein, also be aware that restaurants provide a lot for humans, but little for dogs. We need to be responsible for making sure all dogs are taken care of. Be aware that you're responsible for any mess your dog makes. In such an exciting environment, even the best-behaved dogs have been known to drop a deuce. It's a good idea to bring along poop bags and/or paper towels.
SEE YA THERE
This is the first dog-friendly wine tasting we've ever had, so it should be exciting! Mark your calendar for this unique event, and I'll see ya there!
