Today ends the Willderly, Wildlife, and World Folktales & Fables weeks and is smack in the middle of the week of Solidarity with People’s Struggling Against Racism & Discrimination, and starts Tsunami Awareness.
But it is the day for Chocolate Covered Raisins, World Tuberculosis, and is Palm Sunday. Yes, the week before Easter. Ash Wednesday was back on Feb 13th, and Catholics are in Lent, a time to many to give up something for God. I have always seen this time as the renewal of New Year’s Resolutions, so the thing most of the people I know gave up was the same thing they did at New Year’s Day but with a different twist: New Year’s is to lose weight; Lent to give up chocolate, sugar, caffeine, and other unhealthy actions usually leading to losing weight.
Come and discuss these and other fascinating subjects with our friendly group who meets at the Larry Kitto Room at Black Bear Crossing in Como Park St. Paul.
