Everyone enjoyed the play, which was actually a musical about the story of Purim.

I have my tickets and will be coming with a Japanese-American friend around 1:45pm. Since these are assigned seats, I don't think the group will be able to sit together, obr mir konnen hakn a tchainik a bisl beforehand and efshe shpater. I can't make the suggested lunch at Pongol.

I don't know if we decided to grab a bite afterwards or not. Let's wait and see. We'll either spot each other before, during or after the show. I think I'll be in seat B-15.

    See you then.

Hi, Steve, I've proposed lunch at Pongol at 12 and posted it as a suggested meet-up for pre-theater. We could easily change the time to post-theater depending upon folks' interest. I have a ticket as well: Balcony center section right hand side. Baruch has a large waiting space both above and below where the theater is located. We could all also meet in the lobby beforehand.

Bobbie, I posted a comment to the group, just to let them know I will be waiting at the ticket window at Baruch this Sunday at 1:30 pm, 30 mins. before the show. So if you'd like to chat (for me in English) before the show, you can meet me then and there.

I don't know exactly who besides me is attending Sunday's Folksbiene production of "Megile fun Itzik Manger", but I plan on being there at 1:30 for the 2:00 show (I already have my ticket). At 1:30 I will be in the lobby (near the ticket windows). Perhaps whoever else is definitely coming should post a comment as I have to let the few of us who are attending know who and how many to expect. Sound good?

Hello Steve Lasky, and Mike too:

(I’m answering via the Meetup though members can’t see to what I’m answering) :)

I’m confused as to the date and other info on your proposed event. Is it on Mon. April 22 at 2:30? The date and time suit me perfectly. As to the venue, what’s the exact address so I may hotstop it to see if I can go without complications, as I live in Manhattan and rarely do I go out of it to avoid complicated trips. ;)

I can’t make the Sunday 4-21 for the Megile, but I’d love to go to the Jerusalem Restaurant, but not in NJ... :) There are many Jerusalem Restaurants in Manhattan, as well as veggie restaurants for the Kosher members. Cont'd...

As to the Yiddish DVD, perhaps you can organize something in NYC with Claudia. Since I can't speak Yiddish well enough (let along comprehend it when it is spoken to me], I probably should attend :)

Thanks Steve, but I can't make Sun. the 21....But following your advice, I'll try to organize viewing the DVD with Claudia. Enjoy the Megile! :o) P.S. it has English titles so....

I could do that too. I guess it's best to wait till closer to the day of the performance before deciding for sure and pose the question to our participants. I don't know where my seat for the performance is, but I guess it doesn't matter. It's not like we can talk during the performance :). All for one, and one for all!!

Plenty of restaurants around the theatre area. I ate at one a Kosher Indian restaurant a block or two from there the last time I saw a Folksbiene play. Let's see how many or our group actually sign up for this event (and actually show up). From my part, it would be nice to chat for a while post-performance, though if you're looking to practice speaking Yiddish, I'm not the best person to do that with.

Also, I know the man in charge of Folksbiene group sales. He asked for the name of the group so he can sit us next to or near to each other, so I told him, though I said we didn't really know how many people ultimately will show up the day of the performance. I already have a ticket for the show, as they owed me one.

This group used to meet on occasion at a kosher Indian place in the 20's. should we meet for a pre-theater snack or post theater dinner so that even though we will not be sitting together we can chat in person?

Just to remind everyone, this I believe is the opening performance of the show. I don't know whether it will sell out or not, and if so how soon (the theatre isn't all that big), so if you plan on buying tickets (from whatever source), please keep this in mind.

www.TDF.org has tickets for $29. If anyone is a member of TDF (if you're retired or a schoolteacher you qualify, yearly membership is $30), you can get up to 9 tickets per performance. Much better deal than the group rate.
