Yoga Meditation sessions include asanas (postures/exercises) to stretch the body in all the different ways; pranayamas (energy breathing) to release tensions and increase positive energies; meditations (Yoga Nidra and Kaya Sthairyam) to calm the mind and find peace within. There will be a little talk on 'What is yoga - and what yoga is not', and the benefits of yoga. There will be handouts so you can practice by yourself. HOW YOGA WORKS

In today high-strung lifestyle, tensions are on the increase be it physical tension, mental tensions or emotional tensions. It is getting more and more difficult to unwind, slow down and relax. The end result is new epidemic of stress related disorders & psychosomatic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, high blood pressure, digestive disorders, asthma, migraine etc. Tension and stress being the order of the day, it becomes imperative to direct and manage it properly. Here's where the ancient science of yoga can play an important role. There are different Yogic practices which can be helpful for today's corporate executives, which basically Relax and harmonize the body and mind maintain the physical body and focus energies. These are discussed below.

Yoga is far from physical exercises, rather it is an aid to establishing a new way of life which embraces both inner and outer realities. This way of life can only become living knowledge through sustained practice and experience.

Asanas are not merely yogic postures but are a state of being. Correct performance of the asana requires participation of the whole being - Movement, Breath and Awareness. This leads to four major benefits:
(i)the internal biorhythms are harmonized
(ii)the energy in our system becomes regulated
(iii)the blockages and tensions in different muscles are removed

Once we attain these four benefits in our lives with the practice of asana, then there are very few chances of the body encountering or undergoing internal stress conditions. Therefore, one prevents illness in the physical structure, and if it is occurring, it limits the intensity of it and one is able to manage and reduce it. In addition to these, there are a host of other benefits, which are derived.

Apart from relaxing and harmonizing the body and mind, yoga leads us to control and focus the energy, channel and activate the different faculties and components of the human body and mind. This done, imagine what the state of our creativity, expression and lifestyle would be.

Relaxation through Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is an efficient and effective form of psychological rest and rejuvenation. In our experience it is one of the best and most permanent ways to induce deep relaxation of the human structure and personality. In normal sleep we are never alone - there are worries and tensions, whether work, family or social pressures. Although the mind cuts off, those impressions continue to alter the pattern of the mind. The next day, instead of feeling clear and fresh, we feel tired, and long for more sleep. In yoga nidra the opposite happens, we get the true benefit of sleep ie. Total relaxation of the body-mind complex, but in a state of being awake, therefore, it is known as sleepless sleep.

A lot of research has been conducted on Yoga Nidra. There is a computerized machine known as a BEAM, which takes a topographical picture of the brain. Photographs of a person after twenty minutes of participating in Yoga Nidra showed the brainwaves to be a deep blue uniform colour - delta waves, which occur, normally in deep sleep. That is the concept of sleepless sleep. It has been found that those people who have perfected Yoga Nidra can in one hour of practice fulfil the sleep requirements of four hours.
