Workshop - Exploring Patanjali's Yoga Sutras

Free info session Monday, October 15 at 7:30pm
Learn more about this 12-week workshop to be held Mondays at 7:30pm, beginning October 29.
Full workshop is $240 (but 25% discount - only $180 - if paid before 10/22)

WHAT TO EXPECT: Each class will consist of learning the traditional way to chant the text, then we’ll dive into the translations and discuss their meaning and application. Each class will end with a meditation practice. This is not a yoga asana class (we will not be doing yoga poses), nor is it a study affiliated with any religious faith — all students’ beliefs and backgrounds are honored and welcomed. But this is a great way for those interested in yoga to learn more about some of the philosophy behind yoga. Yoga teachers can use the class for Yoga Alliance CEU’s.

WHY STUDY THE YOGA SUTRAS? The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is considered by many yoga practitioners to be the owner’s manual for life and the practice of yoga in it. Exploring them helps us to better understand who we are, our relationship to the world around us, why we suffer, and what we can do about it. The text is meant to be self-empowering, supportive and relevant to our everyday lives. We will approach our study of this philosophy with an emphasis on the practical applications of the material in our daily lives and how practicing yoga both on and off the mat can lead to lasting, positive changes and the experience of more joy and contentment in our work, home, play and relationships.

No prior experience necessary. All levels of practitioners will find themselves enlightened and challenged.
