Hibernation season is over-AT section hike-Snicker's Gap/Harpers Ferry = 21 mile

STRENUOUS DAY HIKE

The first of several training hikes forward Devil's Path Extreme Day Hike on Friday, May 24, 2013

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Consider this one of the several training hikes for the "Extreme Day Hikes series" coming soon in a couple months like the famous Devil's Path in NY. 7 peaks over 3.600 feet, 28 mile and[masked] elevation gain; Great Range Traverse NY. 7 peaks over 3.600 feet, 25 mile and[masked]' elevation gain, Presidential Traverse in NH. 7 peaks, 26 mile[masked]' elevation gain and Pemmy Loop 31 mile 9 peaks over[masked]' elevation gain.
Every AT section hike to be post-it for now&on will be 1 way (not a loop) and the distance will be increase between 1-3 mile each time.
In between AT hikes training hikes there will be more hikes in different areas that are a loop but still all of them over the 20 miles distance.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For most this will be an ultra and/or extreme hike.
You have to be in exceptional physical/health condition to try this.

Due to distance this hike is set to star very early in the morning.
I do consider this hike strenuous but not extreme and is not suitable for novices due to length, pace to trek, etc.

Please consider your physical condition if attending this activity and remember to wear comfortable shoes that won't fall apart and bring along whit you a great and positive attitude.

GEAR:
1.) Tick outer layer

2.) Wool cap/gloves
3.) Rain suit
4.) Extra pair of socks
5.) Day backpack
6.) Bladder
7.) 2 liter of water
8.) Safety Whistle
9.) Lunch-Snakes, etc.
10.) 1 piece of duct-tape
11.) Heat lamp+extra batteries

WEATHER: We are an explorer/adventure group but due to weather environment, this event will get canceled if "heavy" rain is forecaste.

How we do this:
This is a 1 way hike, we are moving South to North starting on Appalachian Trail Snicker's Gap area (route 7 on Virginia) and ending on Harpers Ferry MD. border covering a 21 miles distance, we need to leave a couple cars to shuttle on end point  (Harpers Ferry) where we all are going to meet at 6 am.  and from there drive to star point, when finishing 1 or 2 drivers will take the remain drivers back to they cars on star point where we leave the second group and drive back to end point to pick it up the rest of hikers and from there we drive back home (Vienna Metro)

We will be hiking from 7 am to 5 pm (estimated) and will keep an steady pace of 3 mile x hr. Remember to bring enough foot/snakes/water and layers to keep your self warm.
This is a long 1 way hike, NOT SCAPE ROUTES having set even when there will be many bail-out points along the way there will not be no body to pick you up unless you decide to hitchhike back, meaning...you are and will be on your own.
Do NOT join us unless you are 100% sure you can make from point A to point B.

REMEMBER metro doesn't run early in the morning so plane ahead.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
