If you ask me what one of my favorite trips with this group is, then I'd probably have to say our beach camping at Assateague Island from 2 years ago. We are bringing it back for the early summer. The weather is bearable during this time at the beach and makes for great conditions. Roughly high 80s. Not too hot and not too cool either.
Imagine....group bonfire, cookout, kayaking/canoeing nearby, midnight swimming with a beer in hand, horses roaming the beaches, sleeping in your tent with an ocean breeze and the sound of the waves crashing only a 100 yards away. That's beach camping at
Assateague. The event is only sold out when I mark it as such as the top of the writeup. Assateague is a 3 hour drive from DC. It is roughly 30 minutes south of Ocean City
ITINERARY -arrive Saturday morning, - grilling and cookout -canoeing, swimming, and kayaking in the daytime or just chill. -saturday night campfire and cookout party -you can stay till Sunday or Monday. Sunday checkout is 10:30am so if you plan to stay later than that, please pay the additional $10 regardless if you are staying for Sunday night. Check-in time is 12 noon This is BYOB and food. I will bring some meat to grill but cannot provide for everyone so bring something to share as well. Check in at the oceanside group campsite. There is only 1 group campsite. Will provide checkin details as the date draws closer.
WHAT TO BRING FOR BEACH CAMPING? It's not too different from camping in the woods. See this
checklist of what to bring Please consider carpooling as there are only so many parking spots nearby.
Carpooling options Please list if you can drive or wish to be driven and from where. Please list that in the comments box on the left hand side where it says, "talk about this meeting." Don't list it in the RSVP section as it'll be hard for people to respond to. As a courtesy, we only ask that you pay the driver a few dollars for gas money due rising gas prices nowadays. If you're looking for a ride, be proactive by emailing people who are volunteering rather than waiting for people to email you.
REFUND POLICY: No refunds and event goes on in the event of rain.
