Hike to Portage Glacier

So I was portage thinking we could get a group of people together, and hike Lake to the glacier. It's A amazing hike with a beautiful view of the glacier. Round trip is about a 5 mile hike all flat and easy anyone can do it. My mother and I hiked it in 2 hours today round trip and that included spending a little down time at the glacier. Maybe we could even bring food and have a little picnic when we get to the glacier. If anyone has young ones that think would be ok with the hike feel free to bring them they will love it. I figure we could meet at Carrs Huffman and figure out who wants to car pool together, and of course the drivers should be compensated with fuel money. It's about a 20 min ride. Also this is dog friendly if the dogs friendly of course

April will be too late and not safe. I'm sure people do it but I will not take any risks bringing people out there. But there are endless beautifull places to hike here so we can find another hike to do I plan on posting lots of hikes and outdoor adventures now that the weather is getting better so you want to do something the 13th? Also if it is the slush cup we could always make a event of that..?

Hi Curtis. No worries. I thought I would oversleep too. We hiked flat top instead cuz we weren't sure about the glacier thing, being newbies to AK.

I think my dog and I may go on this hike. How's the trail? Can I just wear my hiking boots? Or is it real icy?

I could do the weekend of Apr 12....think that might be slush cup ;) but would Sunday 13th work for hiking? Also what is needed...just some hiking boots? Traction devices, snow shoes? Never done it so I have no idea.
