Calendar: I will only post events as "scheduled" events you may sign up for in the calendar, a few may be joint with the DenverWineSocial.com/Denver Meetup group. Other events will be posted as "note" that are FYI that you can decide to attend on your own as they are not "specific" to our group.
[b]Expectations:[/b] The host/ess doesn't have control over every item at an event. Every venue is different with how they handle pours and food along with facilities. If you attend a "wine social", it's designed for folks to socialize and meet new people over wine....If your intent is a more intense wine exploration, a guzzle fest or to eat dinner size portions, please check out the International Wine Guild, the American Wine Society or Argonaut Liquors. If you arrive late to an event within a half hour of closing down, please don't complain about what is left. If the group is not a fit for you, please find another group instead of whining to me and others. If you attend a networking event and arrive late, please understand folks filter out by the end time of an event.
[b]Pricing:[/b] We will have a variety of different type of events so prices will vary. We are keeping the price to under $30.00 for wine and food pairing socials and payment is being done through Eventbrite/paypal which makes it much easier to handle the list, name tags, etc. If you think this is high, go to your local wine bar and order 2 glasses of wine and an appetizer and total the bill with tax and tip....you are at $26-30.00, and you are paying for going to a bar without an event full of cool people. For comparison, the wine events held by the International Wine Guild and Wine Society are over $50.00 although they have an education element to it.
Payment for most wine specific events will be ADVANCE PAYMENT. We will not accept payment at the door. We use Eventbrite/Paypal for tracking and payment which has SSL security and we don't see your credit or checking account information. You can use AE, Visa, MC and your checking account for Echeck. We have advance payment only for several reasons:
1. "Meetups" and many groups in Denver have members that RSVP that they will show and then they don't....for most groups that are not advance pay, 40-50% no shows in some groups
2. The restaurant needs a headcount to plan for the amount of food, wine and staff to handle the event.
3. It's difficult enough to check in and hand out name tags and wine lists to folks (50-70 people in a 20-30 minute time span) as the show up let alone try to handle money.
Last Minute Show Ups Are NOT Allowed! Please get on the wait list. Wait list people have priority before someone that has not been on the wait list. Please do NOT show up at the door expecting to attend the event. Paid attendees, please do not bring an unpaid guest. It's not only not fair to those on the wait list but it puts a stress on me and the restaurant accomodating extra people that are not a part of the food/wine count. I will turn away people that just "show up" last minute.
[b]Refunds:[/b] For any advance payment type event, please email me right away! Refunds will be provided for illness. We are coming into FLU season. If you have the FLU or suspect you have the FLU, PLEASE email me and we will credit you towards a future event. If you have the FLU, you may still be contagious....it can be contagious up to a week or more in your system: http://www.denverpost... You won't be able to enjoy/taste the wines and foods and you will not be at your "best" for meeting new people....so please stay home, get well, and we will see you at the next one! For most events, if you can give me notice 12-24 hours prior to an event, I may be able to refund. After an event, I can't. The restaurant prepares food and wine for a certain number of people in bulk for the party and they charge for it.
[b]Allergies[/b] Please let me know if you have allergies to certain foods. I sympathize with you as I am allergic to a few items myself. I know the top three are "mold" based foods (blue cheeses/gorganzola), gluten and peanut. So please let me know in advance....this is something we can try to accomodate in most situations.
[b]Sports Activities:[/b] We will try to do some "networking" on the slopes. Please let folks know your skiing ability so you have a good experience we'll try to introduce you to someone that skis your level for your safety. Carpooling is at your own risk and it is up to you to make your own arrangements. Please read the liability waiver for carpooling.

NO PITCHING:[/b] Pitching Products, Businesses, and Other Events This is a "pitch" free zone. Please do not contact me with your latest MLM, Mary Kay or retirement seminar and I'll avoid pitching you about insurance. The group is about networking and socializing within the group and the events I set up. The events are open to everyone regardless of age or sex. Our events will not be about someone's product's they are trying to sell, regardless how pretty you wrap it up with free seminars, etc. It's just not fair to everyone else in the group. There are many companies and organizations trying to fill their events that pitch me. I'm not going to make this a posting board for your business or charity event.
This is a no pitch group! DO NOT PITCH ME, DO NOT PITCH OUR MEMBERS! Our group is NOT a business networking group. Members attend to socialize over wine and learn about wine, not to be pitched your products and business. Most of you are unaware that I am in the insurance business. I make it a habit of not talking about business when I hang out with my friends and am enjoying fine wine. Please take my cue and follow my lead....
If you are pitching your art work, photography, Multi Level Marketing, Mary Kay, insurance, financial seminars, real estate, passion parties, your small business or your liquor store please find a business networking group to pitch your products. Our focus is once a month wine and food pairing at a large upscale venue and that's it. We do not send out pitch emails to members about every company that bombards us with emails to do their PR for them. We watch for profiles that are pitching their business with a phone number or website in the profile, people who attend our group to promote their business and will start removing these people. Please help us by reporting this activity to me. This isn't a business networking group.
Removal from the meetup The meetup system software automatically removes you from this meetup if you have been sent emails for over 6 months and have not responded or never have RSVP'd for an event. If you get an email saying you were removed and want to be a part of the group, just rejoin. If you write rude, mean or hurtful comments after an event or in the notations, harass or stalk a member or inappropriately bother or touch a member, you'll be removed. If you are caught pitching, you'll be removed.
