"Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" (August)

and the winner for August's book is...

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

A mysterious island.

An abandoned orphanage.

A strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

Hi everyone! I might not be able to attend the meeting :-( I read the book and look forward to discussing it, but if I make it I will be late, so don't wait for me to get started. And if I don't see you, there's always next month!!

Let me know if you'd like to host a make-up session online or in real-life as there are some folks who couldn't make it as well. If not, there's a place to post your book review in the discussion section - link to the left under "Our Sponsors"...that section is good for shortcuts at least ;-)

I know this group is new so I am asking for informational purposes, and not to be a pest, when is the next date usually set? Basically just wondering when we will know when August's book group will be meeting or if we are supposed to be providing any input as to days, times, etc. Thank you so much for organizing this group!

No problem. When I originally posted my question I had thought the July meeting had already happened. This month is just a bit crazy for me - sorry for the mix-up.

Will the meetups only take place in Walnut Creek? Just realized that is where this group is based and I live in SF, no car, so I wouldnt be able to make it out there... :(
