Tell us about yourself. Where are you from? How did you hear about YBB? Feel free to include links to your Twitter, Facebook, blog, etc. to help us learn about you!

I'm a Scorpio who enjoys long walks on the beach lol! But seriously I received my BA in Sociology and until fairly recently worked in banking. I'm looking to branch out and get to know more people.

In general, what kinds of activities do you like? What, if any, are your favorite local venues?

I like to shop, explore San Francisco, go out to night clubs and bars, go to parties, visit museums, go to the beach, watch movies, dance, travel, go out to eat, go to Dave and Buster's, etc.

Why did you join YBB?

Being from Marin County, I don't have the opportunity to meet a lot of black people in general and I want to be around others with similar experiences and interests.

For fun: If you were to write a book what would it be about?

That's a really interesting question! I've always wanted to research my family history starting from when my ancestors were brought to the U.S. as slaves. I think I would write about who each person was and interesting facts about them. I already found out that two of my ancestors may have escaped slavery to move to Nova Scotia and are the ancestors of a majority of the black residents there.

Hello everyone! My name is Astrid and I moved back to the Bay Area after graduating from UC Santa Cruz in 2009. I hope to meet new people through this group and have fun!

What Astrid is saying about this Meetup Group

It's a wonderful, welcoming group and I'm really glad that it exists. If you are at least thinking about attending a YBB event I recommend you doing so because it's definitely worth your time.
