I moved to Ann Arbor right after college primarily for the excellent graduate program at UM. I love the quaint feel of the downtown area, and especially all of the cultural opportunities.
Because my field is so competitive, it is often a challenge to balance work and social life. I hope to take advantage of some of the great social opportunities through meet-up!
I enjoy the fast-paced, stimulating research environment. I especially like traveling to conferences and having the opportunity to collaborate with researchers from all over the world.
I am a graduate student at the University of Michigan in the field of computational biology.
In my research, I investigate the genetic contribution to cardiovascular disease. We use genome-wide scans in large human populations to discover genetic variants associated with cholesterol and triglyceride levels. In addition, we look for enrichment of these variants in specific regulatory regions of the genome to understand the biological mechanisms underlying genetic variation. My work is solely computational, so I use a lot of statistics and computer science to answer these biological questions.
Hello everyone! I've been living in Ann Arbor for several years working toward my PhD in computational biology at the University of Michigan. I am eager to meet some cool new people and have some fun adventures through meet-up!
